The Drip Coffee Maker, our "Ol' Reliable".

"As long as you are drinking freshly roasted coffee from farmers paid fairly for their work, I don't care how you brew it!” That's my go-to brewing recommendation on a busy day at our coffee stand at Eastern Market, but let's do a deeper dive into one of our favorite ways to brew up a cup of Cam's Kettle.

The Drip Coffee Maker; Ol' Reliable. The traditional paper filter coffee maker was invented in the early 1900s and became a cornerstone of most American kitchens by the mid-1900s. At Cam's Kettle, we love the drip maker for it is a simple mechanism that yields a clean cup of joe with clear profiles from our specialty coffees lingering pleasantly on the palate.

I vividly remember my mom hurrying to get me out of the house in the morning before school. Looking back, spending 10 minutes on a pour-over or French press brew was not an option, only the simplicity and convenience of a drip maker would get the job done. The last of the brewed coffee would go DRIP... DRIP... DRIP, and we would be off to the bus stop. If I was lucky, my mom would give me a sip or two before dropping me off, although, at that age, I really just enjoyed the milky sweetness of it.

Now, even after tasting hundreds of different coffees from various brewing methods, the full-bodied flavor of my mom's coffee still holds a special place in my heart and my palate! To honor this, we created Eastern Market 1873, our "house roast." Its nutty and chocolatey flavor notes come through brilliantly in most brew methods, but especially in our Ol' Reliable, the Drip Coffee Maker.

Many of our Coffee Club members have been enjoying Eastern Market 1873 as part of their coffee rotations and we also invite you to visit our Eastern Market coffee stand on the weekends to try a fresh cup of our classic house blend.

Keep it legendary everyone,

Cam
